Choosing Sling Size
Use the charts below to choose the size of your sling. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE DIFFERENT CHARTS FOR SITTING AND RECLINING POSITIONS. Many people can use the same size for both positions, but some cannot. If your ideal size is different for each position and you plan to use the sling equally for both positions, choose the larger size. If you are pregnant or have recently had a baby, use your usual (pre-pregnancy) weight to determine your sling size. Note that sling size depends on the person wearing the sling, not on the baby. Your ideal sling size ultimately depends on the length from your shoulder to your hip, and height and weight can only approximate the best fit. If you have a large chest (cup size D or more) and are less than 160 lb, you might need to increase one size from the chart's reccommendation. If you are not sure which size would be best, remember that it will be easier to learn to use a sling if it is too large than if it is too small, and also remember that we're always happy to exchange unused slings for a different size (just email us at orders@eieiobabygear.com).

Reclining: The sling is too large if it hits your legs when you walk (with your baby in it). It is too small if it is so high on your chest that you or the baby is uncomfortable or has little room to maneuver. If the sling hits you somewhere between your pelvis and chest, it is the right size. Sitting: The sling is too large if your baby leans very far away from you (and is good at sitting up) so that you feel like you want to lean to the side opposite the baby to compensate. It is also too large if your baby sits lower on your hip than usual or seems to be sliding out of the sling. It is too small if the sling cuts into your baby's legs or if you simply can't get your baby into the sling. |
